Using Your Dice.
Your dice are the most important tools in your characters arsenal with the Ability to control the fate of your actions, the accuracy of your shots and the power of your punches. Below I've listed the 7 dice you'll need to play examples of when to use them and how to tell them apart in the heat of combat.
The D4.
The unloved D4 is a Tetrahedron, Because of its large flat sides it does not roll as well as the other dice and is used where you want low variation, and an average roll of 2.5. Determining damage done by small weapons is a common use, as well as the level up Hit dice for Ghouls, Humans and Synths
When rolling a D4 you use the number at top or base of the die as your roll result, depending on the position of the numbers on your die.
The D6.
The standard cube shape die found in most board games is also used in most Table top games. This die is most commonly used for weapons such as the 10mm pistol, it also the Dice you'll need to roll when using a Booster Stimpac or Assigning starting hit points for a Ghoul, The D6 is also used for Heavy weapons and explosives that damage more than one target because of this many gamers gather a set of D6 for quickly rolling multiples.
The D8.
The eight sided Octahedron die, each face is triangular and it resembles two pyramids attached base-to-base. Often used for damage done by larger weapons or heavy explosives.
The D10.
The D10 die is a Pentagonal Trapezohedron, with the faces numbered 0 to 9 with 0 being 10. While the D10 is used for some healing items and weapons its most common use is as the single digit side of a D100 skill roll, When combined with a percentile D10.
The Percentile D10.
The Percentile D10 is the counterpart to the standard D10 in a D100 roll, with its sides going to 00 to 90 by tens. To make a 'percentile' or D100 roll, you roll both D10 dice and add them together, with one exception. A double zero roll is 100.
The D12.
The twelve sided die is a Dodecahedron. often used when Rolling damage for large weapons, or the healing points for a Stimpac. Each face is shaped like a pentagon. These dice also stack very well for those long dice-stacking intervals between combat turns.
The D20
The D20 is the most common Dice for table top games. Its a Icosahedron and is more recognisable than its siblings. the D20 rolls further because it is the most spherical. The faces are equilateral triangles. The D20 is used when Rolling certain heavy duty healing items or attacks with heavy weapons during combat. Each value has a 5% chance.
